Bringing Sustainability into Everyday Life: Launching Two Landmark Exhibitions
As department stores are closely connected to everyday life, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi positions itself as a platform for inspiring better living experiences. By bringing together the best elements of daily life, the company strives to offer consumers diverse and meaningful experiences wherever it operates, extending the aesthetics of living across cities.
Guided by this vision, in 2025, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi launched two sustainability exhibitions for the first time: the RE Green Circular Living Expo and the T368 Local Products Exhibition. Through curated exhibitions, interactive experiences, and cross-sector collaborations, these initiatives translate sustainability topics, including local revitalization and circular living, into accessible, relatable, and engaging experiences. By integrating sustainability into everyday consumption, the exhibitions invite consumers to better understand and actively participate in sustainable living.
Re:action Green Lifestyle Event
Making Circular Living Accessible to Everyone
Sustainability should be a way of life that everyone can participate in. Shin Kong Mitsukoshi believes that department stores are more than places for shopping; they are platforms that shape lifestyles and inspire value-driven choices. In 2025, the company launched the RE Green Circular Living Expo for the first time, using lifestyle-focused curation to integrate the circular economy and sustainable consumption into everyday contexts. By making sustainability more accessible, the exhibition encouraged consumers to discover and engage with sustainability naturally through browsing, exploring, playing, and shopping, bringing green living into daily life.
The name “RE” reflects three core principles of the circular economy: Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce, while “ACTION” highlights how everyone can contribute to sustainability through everyday actions. The exhibition brought together 48 sustainable brand partners across diverse fields, including beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and local revitalization, creating a collaborative platform for sustainable living and showcasing the many possibilities of the circular economy.

Your Choices Shape the Future! Together, Embracing Circular Living for a Better Life
Recycle
Through recycling and upcycling, empty bottles and discarded clothing can be transformed into new products, helping reduce environmental impact.
Reuse
By making better use of agricultural and environmental resources, we can upcycle agricultural waste, drive industry innovation, and reduce resource waste.
Reduce
Choose reusable products that minimize waste and reduce carbon footprints, making everyday consumption more sustainable.
In its inaugural year, the Re:action Green Lifestyle Event was held at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi’s Xinyi Place in Taipei and Tainan Place. The exhibition brought together one group company and 47 participating brands across diverse sectors, including beauty, fashion, lifestyle, local revitalization, plant-based dining, and responsible production.Through three themed zones—Green Trend Hub, Sustainability Explorers, and Green Time Kitchen—the exhibition presented green consumption and carbon reduction initiatives in accessible, everyday contexts, encouraging consumers to adopt sustainable practices. The initiative also incorporated zero-waste exhibition design principles and an innovative green admission mechanism to promote environmental responsibility from the point of entry.
Across the two exhibitions, total attendance reached 18,000 visits, with an estimated carbon reduction of approximately 36 metric tons. These results demonstrate Shin Kong Mitsukoshi’s efforts to promote sustainable consumption, circular resource use, and low-carbon lifestyles through its retail spaces.

The exhibition displays were constructed using plywood bearing the Green Building Material Label, display fabrics made from 100% recycled PET bottle fibers, and eco-friendly paper-based boards. In collaboration with REBIRTH, exhibition canvas materials were also upcycled into tote bags for members. In addition, selected booths were rented in partnership with Mangodan and made from recycled materials, including discarded wafer boxes, Yakult bottles, Styrofoam, and refrigerator shelves. These circular exhibition solutions reduced carbon emissions by a total of 17.9 metric tons.

Smart recycling machines were introduced, alongside recycling campaigns conducted in collaboration with five brands, including Clarins, EDWIN, and Wacoal. Visitors could earn 20 SKM Points for each recyclable item brought to the exhibition, including empty cosmetic containers, used clothing, old shoes, and PET bottles. A total of 6,403 recyclable items were collected, including PET bottles, clean used clothing, empty cosmetic containers, aluminum cans, and waste batteries.

T368 Urban-Rural Products Expo
Building a Platform for Urban-Rural Collaboration
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi has long been committed to local revitalization, recognizing that each of Taiwan’s 368 townships, cities, and districts holds unique stories and value. Since launching Hao Hao Ji in 2015 to promote carefully curated Taiwanese products and make local specialties accessible to consumers anytime, anywhere, the company has continued to expand its support for local brands. In 2025, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Technology Research Institute to launch the T368 Local Products Exhibition. Spanning communities from north to south and from mountains to coastlines, the initiative highlights the distinctive character of each locality. Moving beyond the traditional trade exhibition format, it integrates lifestyle aesthetics, cultural experiences, and multisensory exploration to create a new platform for exchange between urban and rural communities. Through immersive experiences, consumers can discover the stories behind the land while helping local brands reach wider audiences.
In 2025, the exhibition toured Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan across three events, featuring 91 townships, cities, and districts across 18 counties and cities. It brought together more than 118 brands and 12 influential local artisans, attracting approximately 60,000 visitors.
| From Farmland to Children's Homes: Creating a Lasting Cycle of Giving |
Beyond product sales, the exhibition featured hands-on activities and talks to deepen public understanding of local agriculture and food production. Shin Kong Mitsukoshi collaborated with Shang Shui Agricultural Products in Xizhou, Changhua; Wild Herbs & Fruits Farm in Neihu, Taipei; and the Baby's Home Social Welfare Association to organize a series of food and farming experiences that invited urban families to engage directly with agricultural life. From planting seedlings and working in the fields to harvesting vegetables, adults and children alike learned to respect nature and gained a deeper understanding of where food comes from.
The activities yielded 500 kilograms of rice and 900 jin of fruits and vegetables. All harvested produce was donated to children at 49 residential care institutions, transforming everyday consumption into tangible support for disadvantaged communities. This initiative exemplifies a sustainable cycle of value creation—from land to table, and from consumption to community giving.

|Empowering Local Farmers with AI: Bringing Their Stories to Wider Audiences |
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi recognized that many small-scale farmers devote their days to agricultural work, from early morning until evening, leaving limited time to develop their brands or conduct marketing. As a result, the stories behind their products and the dedication of local artisans often remain unseen by a wider audience. To address this challenge, the T368 Local Products Exhibition leveraged AI to consolidate information scattered across multiple digital platforms, build a brand knowledge database, and serve as a “Digital Proxy” for local brands by helping organize and communicate their stories. As the digital landscape shifts from traditional keyword-based searches toward AI-powered answers, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi developed an AI-driven official website for the T368 Local Products Exhibition, incorporating the principles of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). Through structured data and knowledge graph technologies, information about local brands was transformed into content that AI systems can understand and reference.
During the campaign, the initiative integrated more than one million pieces of social media content, developed knowledge profiles for over 69 brands, and produced more than 120 multimedia assets, over 20,000 words of professional copy, and more than 105 sets of frequently asked questions. These resources saved each participating small-scale farmer an average of over 10 hours in content production while significantly enhancing the digital visibility of local brands. Through AI-enabled storytelling and discoverability, more Taiwanese local products can now be found online, explored by consumers, and brought into everyday life.
