SKM embraces the vision of community inclusion and lends a helping hand whenever a major disaster occurs in Taiwan or in a foreign country. We also pay close attention to the healthy development of youths and children in Taiwan through measures such as planning youth creativity development sites, which have been used by young people from several universities as exhibition and performance venues. We also promote art education development for children by promoting the joint learning experience for parents and children. We converted the outlets to exclusive learning environments for children, organize ecological exhibitions and art courses, and comply with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) to help support the art education of young children in Taiwan.

Social Engagement for the Common Good

Since 2014, SKM has held annual charity light exhibitions and fundraising events, allowing members to make small donations using skm points and making charitable giving more accessible. SKM department stores also organize a range of community initiatives, including Christmas gift drives, donations to support stray animals, and surplus food donations, bringing warmth to communities during the holiday season. SKM also responds to major disasters in Taiwan and abroad by making donations from its operating revenue when needed, contributing to disaster relief and recovery efforts.

Turning Points into Action: Partnering with Taiwanese and Korean Celebrities to Amplify Social Impact

SKM continues to connect its membership rewards program with charitable initiatives, transforming the value of everyday spending into positive social impact. Through the Global Appraisers campaign, SKM brought together celebrity influence and member participation to create a platform that turns skm points into tangible resources for communities in need. In collaboration with a Korean online variety show, SKM invited Taiwanese and Korean celebrities to donate personal collectibles as prizes. Members could redeem skm points for chances to win these items. The campaign not only encouraged member participation and point redemption, but also converted all points redeemed during the campaign into monetary donations for charitable causes.

Recognizing that communities in some parts of the world continue to face challenges in accessing safe drinking water, SKM dedicated all proceeds generated from redeemed points to this cause. The campaign initially set a goal of engaging 10,000 participants and raising NT$100,000. Ultimately, 4,656 members participated, helping SKM donate NT$297,690 to World Vision Taiwan’s Water Resources Initiative. The donation supported the development of water supply facilities and improvements to water access in water-scarce regions, helping local communities gain more reliable access to safe drinking water.

Sharing Warmth  and Joy at Christmas

Every Christmas, SKM department stores across Taiwan create distinctive holiday displays centered around large Christmas trees, transforming each location into a festive destination enjoyed by visitors. In 2025, five stores, including Taoyuan Station Store, Tainan Xiaobeimen Store, Tainan Xintiandi Store, Kaohsiung Zuoying Store, and Kaohsiung Zhongshan Store, partnered with organizations including the Waiting Baby Social Welfare Association, World Vision Taiwan, Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Kaohsiung City Chung-Shan Sunshine Social Care Association, and government agencies to organize Christmas gift drives for children. All five stores reached their collection goals within a short period, gathering a total of 650 gifts and bringing warmth and joy to children during the holiday season.

SKM Taipei Station Store also partnered with the New Taipei City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office, inviting customers to redeem their skm points to donate pet food for animals still waiting to find a home. Meanwhile, Chiayi Chuiyang Store focused on issues affecting older adults. In partnership with the Department of Social Affairs of Chiayi City Government, the store invited 39 older adults to enjoy a Christmas meal together and encouraged employees to donate supplies to support 15 older adults living alone, sharing warmth and care during the holiday season through concrete action. Moving forward, SKM will continue to expand these initiatives and extend their positive impact to more communities.
