Shin Kong Mitsukoshi is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident at our Taichung Zhonggang store on February 13. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.

From the moment of the incident, our priority has been the safety of our employees and customers. Alongside emergency evacuations and immediate coordination with fire and police authorities, we actively participated in search and rescue efforts to minimize casualties.

Upon receiving the news, President Richard H. Wu, Executive Vice President Michael H. Wu, and senior executives promptly arrived at the scene. They pledged full support to those affected, offering NT$1 million in compensation to each victim's family. They also visited 25 injured individuals across five hospitals, providing financial assistance and expressing their sincere concerns.

To ensure comprehensive support, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi has established a long-term emergency response team to assist colleagues, victims, families, and business partners. This team is responsible for rescue coordination, direct support for victims' families, care for the injured, and professional assistance in community rebuilding.

Cooperates with Rescue Efforts, Investigations, and Compensation

The Taichung Zhonggang store will remain closed until further notice to facilitate government-led investigations and safety inspections. We are committed to ensuring that our employees’ benefits and salaries remain unaffected by implementing flexible work schedules. We are also working closely with affected business partners to assess damages and discuss compensation plans.
