SKM embraces the vision of community inclusion and lends a helping hand whenever a major disaster occurs in Taiwan or in a foreign country. We also pay close attention to the healthy development of youths and children in Taiwan through measures such as planning youth creativity development sites, which have been used by young people from several universities as exhibition and performance venues. We also promote art education development for children by promoting the joint learning experience for parents and children. We converted the outlets to exclusive learning environments for children, organize ecological exhibitions and art courses, and comply with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) to help support the art education of young children in Taiwan.

Major donations in past years

SKM upholds its mission to fulfill corporate social responsibilities and its motto in continuing its support towards Taiwanese communities, in order to give back to society as a whole. We donated two skybridges to Taipei City Government for use in the Xinyi Urban Planning Zone (from Xinyi Vieshow Cinemas to Taipei Xinyi Place A11, and from Taipei Xinyi Place A8 to A4), as well as the adoption and maintenance of Happiness Park next to SKM Kaohsiung Zuoying Store. We provided support when disasters of varying scales striked Taiwan and in foreign countries such as the 921 Earthquake, SARS epidemic, and 2016 Tainan Earthquake. Additionally, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SKM actively supported the endeavor for epidemic prevention and donated NT$20 million to the government's donation account as prevention fund. As seen, we have taken pivotal actions and initiated numerous donations to support the medical workforce in Taiwan to fight hazards together along the way. To give back to the community in an alternative way, in 2023, SKM sponsored NT$10 million to the Taipei Taishin Mars professional basketball team to support the sustainable development of sports in Taiwan and promote a nationwide love for sports. Moreover, they also sponsored outstanding Taiwanese athletes in Taekwondo, boxing, and martial arts with a total of NT$2 million, demonstrating their commitment to helping local athletes shine on the global stage.

Charitable Engagements

Since 2014, SKM has been organizing annual charity lantern shows along with other charity sales events. Due to the upsetting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the events were suspended for two years but made a comeback in 2023. Through point donations from SKM members, the member participation in charitable activities have also increased. This allows members to have the opportunity to make a difference by using their skm points to facilitate a good cause. By simply deducting skm points from the member’s skm app, members can directly donate to a charitable organization supported by SKM.

Point Donations and Point Exchanges for Charity Items

Again in January 2023, SKM organized a charity point donation event. During the event, for every 100 skm points that were donated from customers through the skm app, SKM would donate NT$10 to charitable organizations in need of care and assistance, such as World Vision and the Heart Of Taiwan Animal Care. The point donation event received a response from nearly 1,000 members, showcasing how these issues resonate with many of our customers. Additionally, members could exchange 3,900 skm points for designated gifts, with SKM donating the equivalent amount to the Heart of Taiwan Animal Care. SKM plans to continue improving the point donation process, making it a regular project for soon-to-expire points, and encouraging members to constantly join in on these charitable activities with the company and give back to those who aren’t as privileged.

Lantern Festival Charity Light Exhibition and Sale

Since 2014, SKM has regularly held charity light exhibitions and sales. Each year, more than a hundred artists, celebrities, and brands participate in the event, where the exhibition items are auctioned for charity through online platforms. The proceeds from the sale and the exhibition items are then donated to various social welfare organizations and schools in remote areas. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the charity light exhibition and sale were suspended throughout the years of 2021 and 2022. With the gradual easing of the pandemic, SKM was pleased to announce the resumption of the event in 2023, and they were able to reach out to members and encourage them to participate in their charitable initiatives by using their skm points for a good cause.
